Students with Special Needs

Does your child have identified special needs?  Is he/she struggling at another preschool? Do you worry your child isn’t developing as he/she should be?  Fort Atkinson Preschool and Childcare welcomes children of all abilities. Our Bachelor’s prepared teachers all have experience with special needs including developmental disabilities, speech and language delays, OT/PT needs and more.  We work closely with the Jefferson County Birth to Three Program and the Fort Atkinson School District Early Childhood Program to identify children’s needs and to facilitate needed services.  Many of our children receive services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and early chldhood education while attending school and our teachers work closely with the therapists to continue their therapies into the classroom setting.

All rooms at our school are “inclusion rooms” and children of all abilities play and learn together.

Children who require one to one assistance and have aides from other programs such as school district early childhood education programs, autism programs and others and are able to bring their aides to school with them.

Our specially designed Zen Den, an emotional regulation space, is a place where kids can come to decompress, relax and use the equipment to help them manage their needs as well as working with their assigned therapists.
